The Rivers State House of Assembly, led by Speaker Victor Oko-Jumbo, has officially confirmed four new commissioner nominees to join the Rivers State Executive Council.

The nominees, Dr. Israel Lebura Ngbuelu, Evans Bapakaye Bipi, Barrister Otamiri Ngubo, and Barrister Benebo Anabraba, were screened and ratified following a request from Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

During the debate preceding the confirmation, House Leader, Sokari Goodboy Sokari highlighted that three of the nominees are former members of the House and therefore did not require questioning.

He pointed out that the fourth nominee had recently undergone screening as a caretaker committee chairman. Sokari urged the assembly to confirm the nominees, a sentiment echoed by Deputy Speaker, Timothy Orubienimigha.

After the discussion, Speaker Oko-Jumbo called for a voice vote, resulting in a unanimous confirmation of the nominees.

In his address, Oko-Jumbo praised the nominees for their proven track records, noting that three of them have served in the Rivers State House of Assembly for at least eight years, while the fourth has experience as a caretaker committee chairman.

The Speaker emphasized that their ratification serves as a call to service, urging the new commissioners not only to continue serving the state but also to demonstrate unwavering loyalty to the State Government.

In a notable tradition, the three former members of the House were invited to take a bow and leave the chambers in recognition of their previous service, reflecting the respect accorded to experienced lawmakers.
