BREAKING: Heavy Security At Edo Gov't House As Obaseki Reportedly Moves To Stall Philip Shaibu’s Return

There is currently a heavy presence of security operatives at the Edo State government building on Osadebe Avenue due to rumours that Philip Shaibu is planning to return to his role as Deputy Governor.

Naija News reports that the Edo State House of Assembly had previously stripped Shaibu of his position during his falling out with Governor Godwin Obaseki.

Yet, he contested the removal in court, arguing that the assembly members did not provide him with a fair trial.

A Federal High Court in Abuja, led by Justice J. K. Omotosho, declared the removal of Shaibu as invalid and ordered his return to office, but the government did not follow through, claiming they had appealed the decision.

Upon visiting the Government House area on Monday morning, it was noted that both visitors and government employees were walking long distances to their destinations after leaving their cars by the roadside as a result of restrictions by security operatives who cordoned off the area.

Furthermore, it was observed that only security vehicles were able to access Osadebe Avenue freely.

A government employee who wished to remain anonymous told Daily Trust that they were surprised at the heightened security measures currently at the government house.
