Oscar-Winning Producers Agree To Box Office Movie About Jamie Vardy’s Career
A box office film about Jamie Vardy’s incredible rise from Non-League to Premier League is currently in the works, with Oscar-winning producers agreeing to join the project.
Nine years ago, a fresh-faced Vardy joined Leicester from Conference side Fleetwood Town for around £1 million. Since that day, he has lifted a Premier League title and a Golden Boot, as well as bagging a handful of appearances in the Champions League.
British screenwriter Adrian Butchart, best known for being one of the writers for Goal! and Goal! 2: Living the Dream, has agreed to make the film with Oscar-winning producers Gareth-Ellis Unwin, Simon Egan and their company Bedlam Productions, according to The Mirror.
In addition to the above, Oscar-nominated pair Paul Tamasy and Eric Johnson will also be involved.
Butchart has already held talks with Vardy about plans to make the film, says the report, but the question remains; who will play the former Stocksbridge Park Steels, Halifax Town and Fleetwood Town forward? Well, there are some big names in the hat.
Zac Effron, known for his appearances in the likes of High School Musical, The Greatest Showman and Baywatch, has already been considered by producers, with Robert Pattinson and One Direction star Louis Tomlinson also in the frame.
During his time at Stocksbridge Park Steels, Vardy earned a reported £30-a-week while working in a factory that made medical splints. His rise is certainly an incredible one, but would you watch a Hollywood film inspired by the England international?
