Jeremy Clarkson Says He Was ‘Punched In The Head’ By Manchester City Fans At Champions League Final

The former Top Gear host flew over to Portugal on a private jet to watch his beloved Chelsea be crowned champions of Europe for the second time after a 1-0 win at the Estadio da Dragao.

Outside the ground, however, a merry Clarkson was involved in an incident with opposition supporters after becoming separated from his friends.

He says he was struck by City fans but did assure police present that no arrests were required – nor he did he need any treatment or a trip to hospital before the big showpiece.

“After a flight where the refreshment flowed, we had a long lunch in the Portuguese sunshine, which meant I was quite cheerful when we arrived at the stadium,” Clarkson wrote in a column for the Sun.

It took ten minutes to convince a policeman that it was just joshing that had gone a bit wrong and that no one needed to go to the station.

“And then I had to spend another ten minutes watching an ambulanceman move his finger around to convince himself that I didn’t need to go to the hospital either.

“But eventually, I wobbled into the stadium to do 97 minutes of excitable shouting.”

In one video posted online, Clarkson was heard calling City “manc bastards” as Blues fans chanted his name in celebration of their triumph.

The 61-year-old had paid £500 for category 1 tickets and ended up stranded in Portugal after having his flight home cancelled. It could have been much worse, though.

He added: “Still, let’s look on the bright side. Despite everything, I had a better time than poor old Noel and Liam Gallagher.”
